Summer Reading List

Reading on a regular basis is very important in ensuring school success. Your child would greatly benefit from reading for a minimum of 20 minutes a day. This allows the student to become more fluent in their reading. By increasing fluency other reading skills such as comprehension will also increase.

To encourage your children to continue reading during the summer, we have compiled an extensive list of suggested summer reading books for you to choose from. We are expecting students to  read at least five of the books during the summer vacation. When selecting books it is important to choose topics of interest to the child and written at the child's independent reading level. While the list  support these choices, your child may select books not included on it. Summer reading should be enjoyable, not a challenge or chore!
